Assembla release on August 24, 8:00 UTC, will be down up to 1.5 hours

Posted by Andy Singleton on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 @ 03:26 PM

We will install a new release tomorrow, August 24, starting at 08:00 UTC. The system will be down for up to 1.5 hours. We plan to bring it back online before 09:30 UTC

I understand that this downtime is frustrating for some users in Europe.  However, we believe that this new release will be worth the wait.  It includes about 70 improvements.  There significant improvements to the Support tool and to Ticket notifications.

We need scheduled downtime because we are making changes to the database to improve performance, and we are moving our event queue to RabbitMQ, which will improve reliability.

Nice! Moreover I don't think that 1.5 hours of scheduled maintenance would be a big problem.

I'm interested what queue system have you used before RabbitMQ? How about Resque?

Hi,
Is it possible to keep the SVN up and running, with a very minimal downtime?. Say some 5-15 mins - for switch over.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the notice, the patch has been released now.
