The StandUp tool is controversial, but it consistently gets great reviews from users, and I depend on it.  It's very simple.  All team members fill out a form that lists the tasks accomplished yesterday, tasks to work on today and roadblocks/needs.  Team members can then review each other's reports in one convenient space, and the "needs" are highlighted in red.
