We plan to release a new version of www.assembla.com on Feb 16. The site will be offline while we make some server changes. Downtime will start at 08:00 AM UTC. We plan to finish uprades in 60 minutes, before 09:00 AM UTC.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause.
We decided to change this from Monday to Tuesday to allow a little more time for testing, and for planning on your part.
We are making changes to the server instrastructure to improve response time and scalability, and support some new repository features. The server changes will include:
- Upgrade the application servers to the most recent version of Ruby on Rails and Ruby libraries.
- New repository server software that switches all of our communications between app servers and repository servers to Bert-rpc. This replaces the single-threaded dRB libraries. It also removes some NFS sharing, which spread problems between servers if one server went down.
- Move ftp publishing to the repository servers, to improve delivery time and reliability.
- A new application release with feature improvements and performance enhancements.
On Monday, we will post release notes to inform you of new features.
Thank you.
